Book Review – Realistic Rock – Carmine Appice
![]() |
Realistic Rock by legendary drummer Carmine Appice is quite literally the first drum book I ever bought and I still have it and use it today, almost thirty years later. This is the book that taught me my first basic rock beats and also how to read music. Some of the subjects covered are: Basic rock rhythms – rock polyrhythms – contemporary disco beats – syncopation exercises – hi hat studies – fills – double bass exercises – shuffle rhythms and linear rudiments. The book also includes a special CD that corresponds to the exercises in the book. |
Carmine Appice has a career that spans over four decades and featured in such bands as Vanilla Fudge way back in the 60′s, Cactus, The Rod Stewart Band and King Cobra.
I thoroughly recommend this book to students and teachers alike. You can get your own copy by clicking on the image of the book above or by visiting our online store. |
